All health services, except dental, will move into the new hospital building when it opens in early 2025. The public will continue to use the existing hospital main entry to access the new hospital. The 24-hour Emergency Department, Renal services, NSW Pathology collections and all services currently provided in the Ambulatory Care Hub will relocate to the new hospital.
Once the hospital opens in 2025, NSW Ambulance and emergency service vehicles will access the new Emergency Department via a new entry off Warrambool St
Once the new hospital opens, work will focus on the removal of redundant former hospital buildings, carpark construction, refurbishment of the Ambulatory Care Hub and landscaping of the health campus. The redevelopment is expected to be completed in 2025.
Construction of the new hospital is on track and expected to be completed in early 2025. This will be followed by a commissioning period before services are transferred from the current hospital and the new facility is operational.

For the first time, clinical services will be located under one roof in a building designed to support contemporary models of care. The building and landscape plan take advantage of the site’s orientation to bring natural light into the hospital and provide views of the surrounding landscape.
Work is progressing with approximately 100 workers on site and contributing to construction every day

As we close out 2021, here's a look at the achievements of the year
Our new carpark, constructed to provide capacity for patients, staff and visitors parking during constuction of the new Hospital, was completed in July 2021
Health Infrastructure lodged the State Significant Development (SSD) application for the $250 million Griffith Base Hospital Redevelopment in late April 2021. This important milestone brings the new Clinical Services Building one step closer to delivering expanded health services for Griffith and the surrounding communities.
In addition to the early and enabling works now underway, the Griffith Base Hospital Redevelopment is moving forward with the design development for the new clinical services building through the established Project User Groups.
The discovery of Aboriginal stone artefacts in 2020, and their salvage as part of the Griffith Base Hospital Redevelopment, was the focus of a Wiradjuri Smoking Ceremony held in late November.
Residents can look forward to the next stage of construction by the end of the year with the announcement that the construction contract for the final early works package has been awarded to Hutchinson Builders. The community will start to see the site being established in preparation for work starting. It’s an exciting time for the Hospital and particularly for staff and departments who will be involved in this next phase of the project.
